When Sacagawea was only a young girl, she was taken from her home and sold as a wife in a market. It was not long after this that she became pregnant, but not before Lewis and Clark offered her husband a spot on the trip. She was also invited to come along as the interpreter on the expedition because she knew many indian tribal languages which would serve them during their travels.
Sacagawea was a only a teenager when the opportunity to travel was presented. She was also pregnant and gave birth on the trip, but Sacagawea did not let this slow her down. She continued with the trek by making accommodations to better the men on the trip, and brought many ideas to help the people she was with. She knew which roots and plants were good to heal wounds, when to travel and how to deal with the people they came across during their travels.
